Now that I am all cozied in my very own room, I will fill you in.
Thursday we went on a field trip to Pisa, and climbed the Leaning Tower. You know, conquering all the historical Italian monuments, the usual.
At the end of the day I hopped on the train from Pisa to Rome where Granny and Pawpaw met me at the station.
I got settled in here at the hotel that I cannot pronounce the name of, and then we ate at a local restaurant around the corner. The waiter there called Pawpaw 'Ricardo', why did I not think of that?
This morning we got up and ate breakfast downstairs. I had 2 cappuccinos, 2 croissants, granola, and a chocolate pastry. Once Pawpaw realized he had somehow missed the pastries, he stole 2 and brought them back up to the room for later.
After breakfast I showered and we headed out to walk around for a while. We saw the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and did some more sight-seeing. We ate lunch in a neighborhood across the river that I also cannot pronounce. We ate fried zucchini flowers, french fries, and veal (Sorry Paul and Beth). Dee-lish.
After lunch we walked around for a little bit longer and then came back to the hotel to rest up for dinner. Then we walked to another local restaurant for dinner where I ate some kind of spicy spaghetti and drank white wine. Pawpaw and Granny both got salmon and I must confess I ate some of that too. We got gelato after dinner (Pawpaw is a gelato fiend, God bless him for that). And now here I am back at the hotel! Full and happy. Isn't that how life should always be?
Buona notte.
I'm glad you found Ricky and Syble. Tell us about the Italian trains. Are they easy to use? What class ticket do you buy?
